Essential Apps for iOS Devices | Part 1

If you’re an iPhone or iPad owner, or perhaps you own both, you know that you can really unleash the power of your device with various applications. Many older users don’t download any apps and only use the device for the basics, especially with iPhones. iPads, however, are consumption driven devices and users tend to download applications for them more easily. I have compiled a list of what I regard to be essential apps for iOS devices, whether you’re a proud new owner, or even if you’ve had your device for a while and would like to add further functionality.

WhatsApp Messenger

WhatsApp Messenger

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross platform messaging application that allows you to send instant messages to other smartphones using your data connection as a cheaper alternative to using SMS. You can send text messages, pictures, audio notes, contacts and the ability to share your location too. WhatsApp integrates with your address book and does not require a PIN. If your contacts have WhatsApp installed on their smartphones, their name will appear in your Favorites.

Camera+

Camera+

Camera+ is one of the best third party camera apps for the iPhone. It’s such a fantastic editing application that it’s been ported to the iPad, giving it further functionality. Lightbox syncing has been made possible with iCloud, which means that the photos you take on your iPhone will automagically appear on your iPad’s lightbox.

Find My iPhone

Find My iPhone

Find My iPhone is an application made by Apple that allows you to track any missing iOS device you have running the app or Mac by showing you where the device is on a map. You can choose to play a sound, display a message or even remotely wipe your device if it is in the wrong hands. Odd that this app isn’t standard on all Apple devices. This is a universal app that works on iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad, and can also be accessed from the web at iCloud.com.
